You can run analytics on Posterous. I am one always torn between blogs. Posterous has a great and simple method for blogging cleanly and simply, however I do miss the menus available in Wordpress. I however hate using any images in Wordpress. Yes it can do anything but is not user friendly. I do blog more with Posterous/Tumblr but miss Wordpress menus. If only I could blog as easily s Posterous with easily uploaded Picasa web albums and also different menus to suit different blogging articles.. architecture, travel, culture, food.....
Reply to this comment

Another aspect of moving to wordpress is dependent if you are talking about wordpress.com or wordpress.org as each provides different services.

What has stopped me from importing all my posts to wordpress.com is the simple fact that in particular they are not setup to even work with adsense or anything else javascript based. Now on Wordpress.org and having it hosted you are able to do more with that medium then you are with wordpress.com.

The particular limitations of the wordpress.com do not enable you to modify any css unless you pay a premium, the same for video and anything else that enables you to make the blog your own.

So Certainly Wordpress dot org may be the better option though for the time being I am going to be staying with posterous and it's variety of customisation and simplicity.
Reply to this comment

Thanks for your post... I was wondering if this is possible with a self-hosted WordPress blog? I have been a Posterous and a WordPress.org user for a while but I feel like I want to do everything on the WP platform...

Thanks.
Reply to this comment

Saad, just FYI:

1. Posterous does indeed support Google Analytics -- in fact it's simpler than anywhere else -- you just have to enter your Google Analytics Domain ID into Posterous. No code.

2. If Posterous users use the Wordpress import tool, they must make sure they don't delete their Posterous blogs! Wordpress will not rehost any of the media on Posterous, nor will it support audio or video at all.

Makes you wonder if you're really "graduating" by moving to a platform that does less.
Reply to this comment

Thank you for the info.
BTW, Posterous has a feature to use google analytics to follow the statistics of your blog. http://blog.posterous.com/add-google-analytics-to-your-p
Reply to this comment
